DRY
INGREDIENTS
2.5
C flour
1.5 C sugar
.5 C cocoa (powder)
1.5 t baking soda
.75 t salt
WET
INGREDIENTS
1.5
C warm water
.5 C vegetable oil
1.5 t vanilla
1.5 t white vinegar

- Preheat
oven to 350°.
- Grease
and flour 2 8-inch cake pans or a bundt pan.
- Mix
together dry ingredients in a suitable bowl.
- Add
wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Stir until well combined
and pour into prepared pan.
- Bake
LAYER CAKE about 30 min. Bake BUNDT CAKE about 35-40 min. Cake
is done when a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake
comes out clean.
- When
done, remove cake from oven and allow to cool approximately 10
minutes before removing from pan.
- Mary
says, "This cake is good with just a little powdered sugar
on top, but you can use any kind of frosting you want. (Although
in this instance, I prefer to use the word icing because this
is a very old recipe, obviously popular in hard times.)"
